Finally, after many decades of ignoring recipes that called for yeast, I mustered enough courage to give it a try.  Now with instant yeast, it's not important to get the water temp just right. I first tried my hand at pizza dough and produced a very sad looking pizza.  Bud, my husband, thought it was good.  Hey, he thinks everything taste good!  My son, well he skipped dinner and so did I.  After a couple of weeks of feeling a failure in the yeast department, I decided to try my hand at making Cinnamon Buns, the kind that look like "Cinnabon Buns".  Must say they were so delicious, it was hard to keep the troops from eating them before I got a taste.  Who doesn't like cinnamon?

Who doesn't like pie? My very favorite is a homemade cherry pie using almond flavoring. My mouth waters when I know the pie has been made with old fashion lard. My Mother always used Crisco in her pie crust but with the elimination of trans fats all the companies have changed their recipes which changes the taste and consistency of homemade pie crust.  But you know, we can still buy lard and that works!  Made us a cherry pie which was the inspiration for this weeks FREE DIGI.  So....what will I do with my digi this week?  All our kids have birthdays beginning last week and they run through March -- 4 in a row.  This will be the birthday image for the girls.  My son's card...guess I'll have to come up with another digital image. He's not a pie eater nor does he like to be called "Sweetie".

This week my Book Club friends and I discussed the book Where the Heart Is.   A story of a pregnant teen who rebuilds her life after her boyfriend abandons her, far from home in a Walmart parking lot.  A feel good story that was also made into a movie.  It's a pretty good read.  Rent the movie, it's good.  Our host for the book club made a delicious pumpkin cake.  Oh my, it tasted just like pumpkin pie....so....good!

Working on projects that are too long term usually doesn't work for me. That's why I spend most of my creative juices on card making, rarely spending time scrapbooking. You can guess where all my photo's land...yep, inside a shoe box!  On Pinterest I saw an picture of a shabby chic antique looking photo album that caught my eye.  I just had to check it out. One site led me to another and I watched several videos. The next several days were spent watching YouTube videos and fascinated with learning how to make a 5" x 7" album. The pages were amazing, and full of flaps, tags, photo mats and pockets. A six page album can contain more than 24 photos and journaling spots. Best of all, the construction of the album can be made in a few hours. Designing the pages and covering them with coordinating paper takes a bit longer.  I'm now working on my first 6 X 6", six page album and I'm having so much fun.  It's a nice change.

Didn't the summer months fly by quickly.  I'm not at all ready to give up the summer.  We know that School days are around the corner when Tennesseans enjoy the tax free week-end August 1-3 on clothes, school supplies and on computers.

When I was very young I remember visiting my Grandmother, who we called Nanna.  Often Nanna would babysit me in her apartment.  She had a red round tin about 12" tall and 8" in diameter.  On the top of the lid sat a round clear crystal knob filled with large chunks of salt.  I'm guessing now that the salt's purpose was to keep the items contained in the can fresh. Nanna always kept crackers in her red tin.  I remember her handing me the tin to play with and struggling to pull off the lid to get my snack.  When banging the tin with a spoon it would make a ringing sound that annoyed Nanna.  It wasn't long until the spoon disappeared from my play area and I was back to tugging at the lid for my snack.  It's a pleasant memory and for year's I searched antique shops for the pre 1950's cracker tin. Never found it.  Now that I'm a grandmother my tin is not tin but plastic and I fill it with cookies rather than crackers.  But if I ever find that red cracker tin, my granddaughter Lily will have the opportunity to share my experience of tugging at the lid of a red cracker tin with a crystal knob and playing a tune by banging with a spoon.

Late is engraved in my genes.  And last night I had a few computer issues that kept my post and FREE digi from being uploaded on time.  I don't drink beer but could have used a cold one to chill out yesterday while I was dealing with my very uncooperative software. Ask my son who was trying to help me and he'll tell you quickly that after multiple calls from his mother, it wasn't the software but the computer operator causing  the issue.  And,  he was right!

Thoughts about father's day and knowing I have a bit of Irish in my blood,  I've chosen my beer mug for this week's FREE digital image.  You can find it FREE under the FREEBIES tab.

Tennessee had a few very hot days and now the temp has dropped 20+ degrees and I am bundled with a sweater and a blanket.  Hey warm weather, y'all come back to the South! Sympathy to those of you who live around the Chicago area. You had snow showers visit in May.  Burrrr!

What are we celebrating? Could be a good report card. Maybe a graduation.  So where did the inspiration come for this week's digi? Here's my story......

I had a dilemma in my garage. My freezer was defrosting. After checking the extension cord, the plug, then the circuit breaker, the outlet was still dead.  Now thinking like a female who knows absolutely nothing about electrical outlets, I decided to try other appliances in the hope the electric would start flowing. I know, you're probably laughing!  What was I thinking???  I choose my curling iron -- it didn't work. Then I tried my alarm clock. That was dead too.  After a phone call to a friend  it was suggested I search for a GFCI outlet.  OK so what it that? An outlet with a breaker switch. Now if you could see my garage, Oh my!  A three car garage with wall to wall boxes from floor to ceiling.  See why the panic?  The thought of ripping apart my garage was overwhelming.  For motivation I tried telling myself it was a good excuse to weed out those unwanted items stored along the walls.  

The next afternoon my neighbor walked over to chat while I was deciding what wall I should tackle first.  I was quick to complain about the task of looking for the GFCI outlet.   So what do you think happened next?  Yep, he pulled out two items from a wall and presto! There was the outlet I needed to find.  Kudos' and many thanks to my neighbor for a job quickly done.  It resulted in the inspiration for this week's digital stamp.
