Finally, after many decades of ignoring recipes that called for yeast, I mustered enough courage to give it a try. Now with instant yeast, it's not important to get the water temp just right. I first tried my hand at pizza dough and produced a very sad looking pizza. Bud, my husband, thought it was good. Hey, he thinks everything taste good! My son, well he skipped dinner and so did I. After a couple of weeks of feeling a failure in the yeast department, I decided to try my hand at making Cinnamon Buns, the kind that look like "Cinnabon Buns". Must say they were so delicious, it was hard to keep the troops from eating them before I got a taste. Who doesn't like cinnamon? This weeks inspiration came from my scrumptious cinnamon buns. This week-end was full of fun and surprises! So before we get to the vegetables, I have to say my Chicago friends threw me a birthday party right here in Tennessee. We had a fabulous time and everyone brought a dish to complement a Lasagna Dinner. I can't thank everyone enough for their thoughtfulness. The day after the party we went out for a boat ride on the Lake and had brunch at one of the local restaurants. We ended the evening with Mexican food. Yum! Of course today's digital images have absolutely no relevance to my birthday party. Since I didn't post an image last week, I am posting four vegetable images that can be downloaded all day Sunday for FREE.. You can find the downloads under the FREEBiES Tab. Hope everyone had a fun holiday, I sure did. Now, Y'all come back now. gailWho doesn't like pie? My very favorite is a homemade cherry pie using almond flavoring. My mouth waters when I know the pie has been made with old fashion lard. My Mother always used Crisco in her pie crust but with the elimination of trans fats all the companies have changed their recipes which changes the taste and consistency of homemade pie crust. But you know, we can still buy lard and that works! Made us a cherry pie which was the inspiration for this weeks FREE DIGI. So....what will I do with my digi this week? All our kids have birthdays beginning last week and they run through March -- 4 in a row. This will be the birthday image for the girls. My son's card...guess I'll have to come up with another digital image. He's not a pie eater nor does he like to be called "Sweetie". You can download the FREEBIE by clicking on the FREEBIES Tab. The digi will be available for FREE all day Sunday. Hurray and download it...it's gone after midnight. Y'all come back now! gailI was in need of a Thank-You card for a friend, which prompted the inspiration to draw strawberries. I found a very creative idea on SplitCoastStampers. A card creator took a piece of white card stock and punched holes to create a swiss cheese look, backed it with yellow card stock and added a mouse. Great idea! One that prompted me to say... why didn't I think of that? Next, I searched the internet for a digital image of a mouse and found this adorable image of a mouse holding a strawberry at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. When creating a greeting card I finish the inside with as much time and creativity as I put into the outside of my card (the berries in the picture is the inside of the card). Since Berry Sweet Cocoa Mouse was holding a strawberry, I thought how cute to include a double strawberry to hold a banner for the inside sentiment. And so my strawberry digital image was born. My image has a white space on the bottom berry. I purposely left that open space for a sentiment. Those of you that want to use the image purely as a strawberry can fill in the space with dots to create the missing seeds. You can find my FREE digital image in the FREEBIE section under SUNDAY Digi. Download it for FREE until midnight Sunday. Hope you all enjoy. Why not try using circle punches to create a swiss cheese effect. It's fun and easy. Y'all come back now! GailOne of my favorite summer drinks is Limeade. I'll often purchase this tasty drink at the Sonic Drive-in. Yum!. It's cold and refreshing on a hot summer day. Even better is making a homemade, ice cold pitcher of the sweet, but sour drink. It's easy to make. Mix water, lime juice and sugar to taste. Add ice cubes, pour a little sparkling water into the glass and you have fizz. This week's digi is a glass of limeade topped with a drink umbrella. Color the lime slice yellow and you have a glass of lemonade. Turn the slice into an orange and you have a cocktail. Download this free digi all day Sunday until midnight.. Find the FREE download under the FREEBIE tab. Grab it soon! Happy Summer! Y'all come back now. gailDidn't the summer months fly by quickly. Grab your SUNDAY FREEBIE until midnight Sunday. Download free in the FREEBIE section. Happy School Days. Y'all come back now! gailPeach season will soon be ending and I'll miss my favorite fruit. When ripe they taste so sweet and juicy. I purchased a container of very excellent tasting peaches only to receive a call that the California packer had discovered Listeria bacteria in their equipment. The peaches I bought may have been tainted. Thousands of people were effected. Did you get a call too? You know, I was not a happy peach lover after that phone call. After researching the strain of bacteria I found that the incubation period can be up to 70 days. Wasn't too happy after reading that information either. The good news is that I feel fine with no symptoms with 19 days from ingesting. I have 51 more days ahead of me with the task of trying not to worry and keeping positive. So.....it's not going to be peaches this Sunday but PEARS. Sunday's FREEBIE is a pair of pears and word art that simply says You're a Sweet Pair. Grab this week's digi for FREE all day Sunday until midnight EST. Download the files under the Sunday Freebie Tab. Enjoy and Y'all come back now. gailNothing taste better on a warm day than an Ice Pop. Blueberry was my favorite when I was young. And the Good Humor Truck had a Chocolate Eclair pop that I still enjoy today. This weeks FREE digi is a Popsicle wrapped with a ribbon and a flower. You can find the digi under the FREEBIE tab to the left. The digi will be available for download until midnight Sunday so grab it soon. I've also included two FREE PDF files that are print and cut to create a Popsicle Greeting Card. You can create a card similar to the picture above or embellish with your own ideas. Instructions are listed on the print-out. The file named "Popsicle Overlay" is to be printed on patterned paper to obtain a layered patterned look. Enjoy and Y'all come back now! gailWhen I was very young I remember visiting my Grandmother, who we called Nanna. Often Nanna would babysit me in her apartment. She had a red round tin about 12" tall and 8" in diameter. On the top of the lid sat a round clear crystal knob filled with large chunks of salt. I'm guessing now that the salt's purpose was to keep the items contained in the can fresh. Nanna always kept crackers in her red tin. I remember her handing me the tin to play with and struggling to pull off the lid to get my snack. When banging the tin with a spoon it would make a ringing sound that annoyed Nanna. It wasn't long until the spoon disappeared from my play area and I was back to tugging at the lid for my snack. It's a pleasant memory and for year's I searched antique shops for the pre 1950's cracker tin. Never found it. Now that I'm a grandmother my tin is not tin but plastic and I fill it with cookies rather than crackers. But if I ever find that red cracker tin, my granddaughter Lily will have the opportunity to share my experience of tugging at the lid of a red cracker tin with a crystal knob and playing a tune by banging with a spoon. This weeks SUNDAY DIGI is FREE until midnight. You can find it under the FREEBIES TAB. Happy Birthday America! Enjoy and Y'all come back now. gailSummer is perfect for having picnics. Where I live, many of us gather outside at the picnic pavilion and share our covered dishes. Doesn't the food always taste better when someone else does the cooking? Well, maybe not all the time. Watermelon is a favorite in our house. It's juicy, sweet and the reddish pink color just makes it look scrumptious. I decided to bring Watermelon Salsa to our last picnic. It's surprisingly delicious. Those of you who are food adventurous can find the recipe at foodnetwork.com. This week's FREE DIGI is a watermelon stack. You can download the file by going to the FREEBIES tab, then to SUNDAY DIGI. I used this week's watermelon digi on my scrapbook page that I'm making for the picnic we just attended. It would also be fun to use it on an invitation or a greeting card. Enjoy this Sunday's FREEBIE until midnight and grab yourself a juicy watermelon! Y'all come back now! gail |
