It's very 3-dimentional which is difficult to see in the picture. I used distress ink to water color my background and then cut out a rough edged rectangle from the center of the card. I popped the image frame so the square was inlaided flat onto the card. I printed my wooden post, colored it with copic markers. Jolie shells were added to the front. The fishing pole had a hook on the end of the fishing line which was yellow thread The greenery was stamped and cut from MFT, Blissful Blooms set.
Last week I posted a wooden fishing sign as the FREE digital image for Sunday. I had explained in my post my idea for a card using this image. Now I'd like to share with you the card I made.

Summer is almost here and fishing is on the minds of water sportsmen. Father's day is also just around the corner. Making cards for guys is difficult for me. My creative side wants to make "pretty things" that just don't work for masculine themes. I thought I'd take a few weeks create images that can be used for masculine cards, journals or scrapbook pages.. Now we all know that women fish, play golf and engage in all kinds of sports. That's why this image is appropriate for anyone who likes the sport of fishing. I haven't made the card yet, but here's my plan for the image. Create a beach scene with sand, water and in the horizon a orange-yellow sun rising in the background. Maybe a few birds in the sky with a "V" stroke of the pen. My scene will be created with watercolors. After painting my scene, cut a circle out of the middle of the beach scene using a 2-1/2" punch. Adhere the card stock with the punched out circle to the card base with pop-ups or foam tape. Position the painted punched circle inside the cut out and adhere flat to the card base. The scene will then look 3-D dimensional. I'll print my fishing sign, cut and color and pop-up the image onto the right side of the card. I have an embellishment of a fishing rod and a fisherman's basket that I'll adhere to the left front. I purchased a few tiny shell embellishments that I'll add to the sandy beach. Haven't decided where to put the sentiment on the front of the card yet. Maybe I'll just fill the inside with my thoughts and leave the outside with only the scene I created. You can download this image all day Sunday and into Monday this week. You can find it in the FREEBIES Section. Enjoy the image and I'll see Y'all next week. Happy May! gailWow..... Food allergies are horrible! We were dining out in a seafood restaurant for lunch. Soon after eating our shrimp and lobster lunch, my husband complained he didn't feel well. It didn't take long for him to become deathly sick and break out in hives. A new food allergy -- shell fish. Off to the emergency room and a 10 day stay in the hospital. He's recovered and lucky for him he's able to eat other fish as long as it's not shell fish. We are both Fish Lovers but now Bud will have to stick to some of his other favorites like trout, walleye, grouper and of course tuna. This weeks digi is the "Fish Lovers". The digi is FREE all day Sunday until midnight. You can download the digital image by accessing the FREEBIES tab to the left. Have fun with this image. Y'all come back now! gailCard making is usually the craft I use for my digital stamps. But, think how versatile this stamp can be. I created a fishing theme for a children's party. I used this digital image for making the place cards adding each child's name to the top of the bowl. The Fish Bowls were also used as gift tags attached to the goody bags. Then, I cut out the Fish Bowls, gluing two of the bowls together, sandwiching string between the two images. Then I attached the string to a dowel that made some resemblance to a fishing pole. The fishing poles were used to create a center piece for the table. Grab this Fish-N-Bowl Sunday in the FREEBIE section under SUNDAY DIGI. Dont' delay, it will only be FREE until Midnight. The complete set of FIVE individual images can be purchased by clicking on SHOP DIGITAL FILES / ANIMALS. I'd like to see your creations made with my images. Send me a picture by going to the SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT TAB and I'll post your masterpiece in the PEOPLES GALLERY. Y'all come back now! gail |
