Flying kites was one of my favorite past-times. I carried my kite in the trunk of the car as not to miss a windy day. My favorite place to fly my kite was on the dunes of the Outer Banks, NC. I would go where the people flying their gliders would gather. I often visited Ocracoke Island, which is a small island only accessible by a 45 minute ferry ride that crosses the Hatteras Inlet. It's inhabited by many artists and a favorite of mine to visit. While crossing on the ferry I had my first sighting of a pelican. Up close these birds are huge with a very large wing span. My digital kite made a fun get well card. I popped the clouds, sentiment and the kite for dimension. Each of the triangles on the kite were popped using pattern paper. The background was inked with blue and violet and swirled to give the illusion of wind. The polk-a-dots and stitching on the bows were made with a white gel pen. Have fun with this week's digi.
